THE BIRD & BOTTLE INN

Originally opened in 1761, The Bird & Bottle Inn is a historic Dutch Colonial built by Samuel Warren as a stagecoach stop for travelers between New York City and Albany. It even housed some of Washington's troops during the Revolution (yes, that's how old it is). The boutique inn and restaurant was purchased in 2020 after multiple storied owners—including a Tonight Show bandleader—and beautifully restored with historical touches and modern comforts. Executive Chef Kristian Meixner oversees the inspired culinary program.

Project

The new owners approached us with their rebrand, showing us multiple previous logos ranging in age from decades to well over 150 years old. Some had questionable arrangements of both a bird and a bottle and many different styles for the type treatment. Our goal was to arrive at a logo that could have lived there a century ago, but with more of a modern polish to it. We needed to simplify the bird and bottle motif so it could be applied to many different items and surfaces without the risk of detail getting lost. The logotype and brand mark both work independently with multiple formats for different needs.
